Our Mission
Our mission is to offer a welcoming place that affirms the dignity of each person. We provide a safe and supportive home to achieve safety and stability for individuals and families who have been forced to flee their homes due to war and persecution and are going through the asylum process in the United States.
Our Home
Casa is an amazing, unique home of over 7200 square feet. It has seven bedrooms of sufficient size to host a small family in each. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, large dining room, two living/greeting rooms, recreation room, multiple bathrooms, several quiet areas reserved for study or meditation, and a large yard. Located in a neighborhood zoned for single family housing, the property has a Special Condition Use Permit to provide housing to up to 16 individuals – a combination of adults and children – at any one time.
Our History
Casa Guadalupana began in 1999 as a ministry rooted in the Catholic Worker tradition. We served the immigrant community by offering shelter to Latina women and families who were experiencing homelessness. In 2008, Casa moved into the former rectory of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in St. Paul’s West Side neighborhood.
Current residents living with us come from Colombia, Honduras, Kenya, Oman, Rwanda, and Uganda.
Casa Guadalupana is a tax exempt 501(3) charitable organization
